Mountain biking in Floripa and surrounding areas will take you to places that most of the time even the locals don´t know. From paths along pristine beaches to trails in the countryside, it´s a great option to explore the beautiful scenery of this island and the mainland. Enjoy waterffalls, trails in the Atlantic sub-rain forest, lakes and more in the company of our local guides that will be glad to show you the best Florianopolis island has to offer. Take your time to stop at a wild beach or to try some typical drinks along the way.
We offer trails for all levels. Flat paths along the beach, up and downhills through unexplored paths, and technical trails in the forest.
Suggested four days itinerary:
Arrival day: Travel from Florianopolis to the village of Vargem do Cedro (Sao Martinho city), which is in the countryside of the mainland. It is a two and a half hours drive. Sleep in a guesthouse in the rural area.
1st day: Visit the “Casa do Rio” (River House), where they grow giant carps besides a house balcony. There is also articrafts sales and local gastronomy in this place. The bike ride goes along the State Park of “Serra do Tabuleiro”, the largest Conservation Area in this State. The night is spent at a confortable guesthouse in São Bonifácio.
2nd day: We keep biking along the State Park “Serra do Tabuleiro”. Alternate way biking through several water springs. Most of the drinking water in Florianopolis come from this area. Time to enjoy a delicious waterfall. Spend the night in Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, in a hotel that offers bathtubs in the bedroom with thermal water.
3rd day: Bike through rural ways, enjoying a bucolic view with the impressive Cambirela Mountain along the way. Board a boat in the “Enseada do Brito” (Brito´s Bay) to cross to Florianopolis Island. Arrive at the “Caieira da Barra do Sul”. Spend the night in one of the oldest district of Florianopolis island: Ribeirão da Ilha. This neighborhood offers a beautiful view across the Southern Bay, specially at Sunset. It has a strong Azorean influence in the architecture, and it is a world heritage protected area. Also it hosts restaurants that offer delicious and fresh seafood.
4th day: The bike way today will go through the Sertao do Peri (Peri Backwoods). This area keeps ancient history of the island colonization. It is a steep way up, but it is the impressive view of the Southern Bay seen from one of the highest points of the island that will take your breath away! Down the mountain and then it is time to bike along the beaches in the southern portion of the island: Açores, Pântano do Sul and Armação. From there, bike through the “Parque Municipal da Lagoa do Peri” (City Park of the Peri Lake). This is a paradisiacal well kept water spring in the island. Arrival at the Campeche Beach through the Morro das Pedras Beach. Spend the night at a local guesthouse.
